My buddy Joey (Phage Wars, Crush the Castle) sits next to me at the office making games. Since I have my paintings up I decided it was only appropriate we had some of his games brought to art too. Once again the painting is in acrylic which is slowly becoming my paint of choice. I need to explore other paint types but so far I enjoy it… it’s relatively easy to work with and it blends happily.

Hey, you should go play it. Go collect stars and be a productive tank citizen.
Joey Betz and I teamed up again for this little physics game. The idea was to be a little tank that can flip around via its gun. This is what we came up with. This is the second game we have done together since Fox Fyre. I did the artwork and came up with the concepts, while Joey and his magic physics hands put the entire thing in motion. It was a fun project.
Its my first wobbly-tossy-turny physics game. Hold onto your butts. Go play it.
I’m out for a weekend of tux shopping and merriment. Everyone have a good weekend!

Working on our ‘bunkers‘ game, we’ve decided to make the jump to Flash Player 10. We want to use some datatypes only available in Flash CS4, so we’re moving from the safety of Flash Player 9 and making haste towards the newest version of Flash.
We’re hoping it’ll make things a bit interesting.
Joey ran some tests today and the new Vector datatype in Flash 10 is super fast at doing computations. This means that if we have lots of particles we can calculate their movement very, very quickly. More CPU draw means more particles. And as we all know, more is always better.
I’m excited to see what happens tomorrow when CS4 gets dumped on the system. It’ll be Actionscript 3 with flair.

The terrain engine was finished today (for the most part). It allows for elastic hits on the surface with ripple and bounce effects. Anything attached to the surface bounces around the terrain with it.
Tomorrow starts the in-game store system that allows weapons to be purchased with the money made from battle. There you can purchase a variety of weapons and items to use in battle. Think Hedgehog Launch‘s store system.
I’m making good progress but I don’t think Joey or I have a real good idea of when the game will be done.
Stay tuned, store pics coming soon!

I am working with another developer, Joey (developer of Phage Wars), on a project yet to be named. All you need to know is that the particles are coming… the particles are… coming.
And there is really, really bouncy dynamic terrain that autogenerates. Here’s a screenshot of what’s to come!

The game features way too many power ups and weapons, and driving it is a massively massive battle. Hopefully it’ll be uber-awesome now that I’m programming AS3 OOP.
Name is still yet to be determined but it’ll definitely be something to do with bounciness.
More updates to come!
