    Flash News

    I’m currently debating with another individual Tasselfoot about common knowledge of computers.  This influences a game design decision, so I’m curious…

    My guess is that maybe 60-70% knows what it is, at best.  I could be completely wrong!  I’m not sure, but I am definitely curious what cross section of people (who cross this site at least) know what this is.  This small research will be useful towards a new project I’m working on.

    Anyone who plays a lot of MMOs or hack n slashers and who hasn't disabled the hotkey for it will soon feel the wrath of the sticky key.

    Heh. StickyKeys is like the most annoying Windows feature. I don’t understand why someone would ever find it useful. When activated, each time I press Shift, Ctrl, Alt or Windows key my motherboard’s ‘beep’ makes a veeery loud… beep. It always scares me off, lol.

    I have used MouseKeys a few times, and the one that shows circles around your cursor so you know where it is when you press Ctrl (I don’t remember its name).

    hey, maybe you could make a game where your the elephant and you make it so you have to find the virus in the computer and destory it. Im just coming up with a million great ideas today…

    Sticky Key’s has a side effect on my keyboard of turning Caps Lock on when it’s off, which I then fix by mashing my keyboard :/ Seems to work.

    Than again, if you need to hold SHIFT or CTRL for the whole game, it helps, just remember to turn it off agian.

    I remember someone stickykeyed our whole comuter lab and there was an annoucment saying that someone did and it was sooooo annyoing, but they said that it was complex. No it wasn’t…12345!!!!! (Cancel)

    For those of you who don’t know what StickyKeys does, it makes it so that you can use the Shift function by pressing it and then the button, rather than pressing and holding it. I’m assuming it’s for people who are extremely lazy and can tolerate annoying BEEPs.

    i know what stickykeys is! It annoys me a lot when i play some other flash games (before i found armorgames) which were really wierd. I also found a way to turn that trigger off so on my laptop if i press shift 5 times it doesnt ask me about stickykeys crap. but now i dont know how to turn stickykeys on after that. so pleeeeease pleease. do NOT put stickykeys in a game. I think its annoying and i dont know how to put it back on. no way jose.

    I duno, I have a mac. I googled it though and remember now that this is why the windows kept beeping at me when I was programming (typing shift 5 times while thinking what I should capitalize next)..

    Yup. I know and hate sticky keys. On Windows it’s active by default. Annoying as hell, but easily enough disabled.
    Macs do have it, but it’s off by default. Under universal access in system preferences if anyone actually wants to use it.
    Also, the people who follow this blog, i get the feeling, are more likely to know what stickykeys is than your average joe just wanting to play a flash game.
    Just my $0.02 :)
