Yesterday I started my motorcycle ridercourse. It’s two days, 5 hours apiece of riding motorcycles around a parking lot. It’s my first time on a motorized bike.
Overall… pretty fun. I started out the day stalling a lot and moved into a graceful rodeo-style start and stop. By the end I was doing fairly well, shifting gears, and learning how to brake efficiently around corners.
The motorcycle is an interesting thing. Unlike my bicycle the brakes are on the right handlebar and foot petal, meaning my “oh crap” grasp of the two handlebar levers (like it is on my bike) isn’t the proper way to stop the bike. Also the Neutral position is between first and second, and I typically have trouble locating it.
Today I have my last five hours and then I’ll be done. That will qualify me to take the permit test and get my M1 riding license. Wish me luck!
