I’m out and about tomorrow and I just wanted to wish everyone a fantastic new year.
First off, thanks for an amazing year. I couldn’t be doing game development like this if I didn’t have people playing my games and I appreciate the support I get. I still get emails just about every day asking me questions or sending me thanks, and I appreciate the constant support over the past few years.
It was definitely the year of the Elephant. While Elephant Rave and Achievement Unlocked launched in 2008 the elephant definitely started it’s Run (har har) this year and I am happy there’s some sort of mascot or character under my wing that’s happy to be in my games. Also, thanks for everyone who attended my April 1 elephant conference
.
Also, this is the first year I’ve had some bigger events unfold. Ecrans.fr named me “Game Developer of the Year” and Channel4 (UK) named Achievement Unlocked the “OMG LOL” game of the year. Earlier this year I had the honour of talking at Flash Game Summit 2009 and been in several interviews and articles. And getting married wasn’t so shabby either! What a year.
I also wanted to look ahead to the new year and say, well… there’s a lot of fun stuff coming. I have an elephant game that will be trotting its way into the world in the first few half of 2010. Also, I have yet another genre I have never worked in before and will get to explore for the first time (there was a lot of that this year, between Interactive Fiction, Pixel Art, and RPG). I plan on returns of old games as well as plenty of new titles.
And to all of you, I hope you have an amazing 2010. Cheers!
And it should be called “Twenty Ten,” like this website says.

Carlie and I visited Monterey bay Aquarium last weekend, took some pictures with some old and new lenses from Christmas. Here’s a few pictures (the jellyfish pictures always seem to come out the best):

New 50mm Macro Lens:

Old Wide Angle Lens on one of the multi-pane two-story glass aquariums:

And Monterey just looking pretty with the telephoto lens I take 99% of my pictures with.

So far loving some of the new camera equipment, will have to get better at using some of the new toys I got.

Merry Christmas everyone!
I’m typing today from my new mechanical keyswitch keyboard and overall I am very happy with all the gifts for Christmas (a lot being camera supplies including a new monopod and lens!).
I’m also really happy to be able to see friends and family this Christmas and have a festive season. I also found out today that I got a flat tyre while driving around yesterday so I already have plans for tomorrow to get it fixed.
Everyone have a good holiday!

This morning I woke up to over 15 sea otters floating in a giant platoon in Monterey Bay, CA. It was pretty freaking amazing.
Tonight I am hanging out with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tin and Roo, and later we’re moving onto Christmas festivities.
Hope everyone is having a safe (and fun!) holiday season
. Take care everyone!

As of yesterday the Ball Revamped Chia Pet is officially in motion. Germination took effect over the weekend. It took a greenhouse-style plastic cup and a lot of watering to get started. This is the first Ball on record to have started growth. Our experiments are going as planned. Will it be sentient? We can only hope.
