    Halloween at Home '09

Pumpkins are out, kids are lurking, and the candy bowl is ready!  Happy halloween everyone!

I’m currently trying to convince Carlie that we need to watch the original Psycho tonite, so far I’m striking out.  So instead we might just eat a bunch of Sour Patch Kids and sour gummy worms.

Have a safe holiday!  And here’s Bagel in his chicken costume (HE LOVES IT):

This week’s Old Game That Doesn’t Suck Thursday involves a game a lot of people play, probably to make up for the game that I think only I’ve played last week.  This week, it’s the NES version of DuckTales.

This game is awesome for perhaps only one major reason: walking cane.  Cane is the best weapon ever.  Scrooge McDuck uses a cane to attack but can also use his cane to pogo stick to higher locations.   Who knows why a cane can be used as a pogo stick but it makes for fairly awesome gameplay.

Like any good gameplay comes a nice pairing of good graphics, which were also above average for an NES game.  Characters were fully animated and not with simple sprites; the game is fleshed out with great looking animation and enemies.

Yeah, its fairly simple platforming but it was fun, and that’s what really counted.  I loved this game and was very memorable to my childhood.  I never owned the game, only rented it from a video store once, but even that once was enough to ingrain it in my memory.

Hey, it’s Wednesday.  Halfway done with the week!

    eleshirt

Carlie found this website, sircritter.com, just a few days ago.  We got our shirts today.  Let’s just say we’re very happy (and fancy).  I got the elephant, hedgehog, manatee, and sunfish, she got the squid.  I would wear them all at once if I could.

I’m back to writing “I Hate Traffic” and it’s going fairly well.  I am in the process of building in a system of car rotation and life, that way people can build cars that drive in more directions than right across the screen.  I would assume a release of such a game of this magnitude in November.

Also, Elephant Rave HD is still churning.  I’m to the point of the laser beams right after the load bar happens and I’m getting the rest of the features implemented.  This should be done relatively soon.

I’ve got a couple pumpkins but I am not entirely sure what to carve!  Whatever it is I feel the need to outdo my pumpkin from last year (which was none, I haven’t carved pumpkins for the past few years).  I’m very excited about it.

    And that’s about it.  Cheers!

    Washington DC By Storm

On a whim (and a free airline ticket) I visited the capital of the United States this weekend on a whirlwind trip that took me across the country from California to Washington DC.  I left Friday night and came back Sunday morning.   Flights were awesome too… my Friday night flight left at 9:30 pm and arrived at 4:10 am, and my flight back on Sunday left at 7:40 am meaning I was up at 4:30 am to get to the airport.  24 hours in DC… just enough to see everything!  I was visiting my friend Roo since he was out there.  It was pouring rain half the time, pretty awesome.

Lincoln memorial, then off to the museum of Natural History!

And among other things, it terribly raining in front of the Capitol Building to the point that we had to huddle under a tree until it stopped.

All-in-all, a fun trip.  Hope to have some more super-fast vacations.

Here’s a small little game for Halloween.  RedEye 1031 is a game about killing things on a crashing plane.  It’s short and to the point… hit things with your oxygen mask, don’t fall off the sides or let them eat you too much.

I like this game because it has a nice windup to it.   I had trouble trying to convey this game without an intro so it seemed only logical that more story was stuffed into the game.  Hope you enjoy!  Clicky.
