  Digg and Megabytes

  Had an interesting day yesterday.  The game This is the Only Level managed to get popular on Digg so there was a huge influx of walkthrough video traffic reported from the walkthrough creator, Tasselfoot.

  

  For some reason Armor Games is near impossible to get the article Dugg on, I’m not sure why.  It got Dugg on another website.

  I went running today at lunch with Dan from the Armor Games office but got super tired from the super hot temperatures outside.  I had to walk home even though it was only a 4-5 mile run.

  My computer is down to about 11 MB in hard drive space.  It’s true, and it’s sad for me because I can’t take pictures with it being so low.  I am going to either have to crack down and get a new computer (the fun, more expensive option) or find a way to use an external hard drive for the photo editing (the less fun, much slower option).  I have a Macbook so its not the easiest thing to upgrade, and I use a single Aperture database that is near 50 GB and resides as a single file.  So I might lose the home laptop for a desktop replacement and do photo editing on a proper monitor and faster computer.  I’m thinking an iMac, since Aperture is Mac only and my photo tool of choice.  Otherwise, I’m going to RAID 0 some 1 TB external hard drives and be completely impatient waiting for large files to bounce over USB 2.0 lines.

  Still working on the RPG.  Mr Fikree has managed to create some wonderful tracks.  He created the tracks for TBA++ and I look forward to listening to all the music for the game.  so far there are 10+ tracks and each is themed to the various areas of the game.

  This weekend… yes more wedding prep and possibly that computer purchase.  Carlie and I need to talk about it more before buying a new one.  On Sunday I’m doing my last long run before the big run!

  Oh and speaking of which, you might have noticed on the left side of the page a donation box.  This is for a 100 mile bike ride I am doing in October after wedding.  I’m riding from Irvine to San Diego down the California coast in two days to support MS research.  Its for a good cause and is tax deductible.  Feel free to donate or just feel free to cheer me on, or feel free to stick a pipe in my spokes and let me fly over the handle bars.  Either way I appreciate the sentiment/maltreatment.

  OGTDST: Boom

  Hey back-to-schoolers, this week’s Old Game That Doesn’t Suck is Boom by Factor Software, an older title that reeks of funtastic Shareware times.

  

  Boom is a mashup of Bomberman and Doom, in the sense that the gameplay is highly derivative of Bomberman and the characters and setting of Doom’s world.  I know I’ll get crap for this but I think it plays better than Bomberman for several reasons.  The first being control and polish of the powerups, which make sense and are much more flexible in Boom than in Bomberman.  The other is that the characters are so much more lovable and adorable.  And the baddies are worth killing because they are annoying and shoot at me.  Enemies are much smarter in Boom than they ever were in Bomberman.

  In case you have never played Bomberman or Boom, the game entitles the player to a field of boxes and enemies.  Bombs adjacent to boxes or creatures blow them up.  Reckless bomb laying turns the player into a mushy pile of bits.  Blow up all the enemies to move onto the next level.

  It’s available for MAC OS 9 or earlier, so its not as readily available as other Bomberman style games.  But if you dig your old iMac out of the closet and ever boot it look for this title here or elsewhere.  The whole entire game is free, you just can’t save in the shareware version.

  Still chugging away at this trading RPG game.  Will be doing it all week and probably the next as well!

  Australia in 18 days, Wedding in 17 days, and half marathon in 12 days.  Time is ticking away…

  Weekend Updates!

  Whoh, forgot to update the site this week, whoops!  Been busy as always .

  That’s Tony (The-Exp, Indestructotank, Upgrade Complete), me, Krin (Sonny, Colony), Con (Last Stand, Warfare 1914), and Joey (Crush the Castle, Phage Wars).  Great guys, was great to meet some of them for the first time.

  This week I have been head-long into the RPG.  I hope to get it done soon as its one of those really old projects that just needs to be finished.  Right now I’m doing some basic graphical changes and next week I’m putting in some quests.

  I posted my games from the past few weeks to Newgrounds and Kongregate, and you might possibly see it elsewhere as well!  I made this icon for Kongregate because I thought it would be hilarious, it’s for “This is the Only Level”:

  Today I got my wedding ring in the mail and its sitting on my desk right now at work.  Carlie says I can’t open it but I really want to.  The box it came in is about 12 inches x 18 inches, I don’t know why the box is so big.
