After weeks of designing a new ball, it has been decided that the new Ball Revamped V ball will stick to the common formula. As much as this may depress some, I feel its crucial to the gameplay and the overall series. I can’t imagine a Super Mario Bros without Mario, and even for a silly group of games, I couldn’t imagine Ball Revamped V without it’s main character. Although it went through freaky transformations (that I cannot even explain) in Ball Revamped III, I hope to keep true to the series and continue on with the old-fashion, long living Ball. And this ball really is long living. Over 30 million plays with all the Ball Revamped games combined, including 4 unique launch titles and a whole slew of awards. People have turned the Ball into a character, even launching at one point a thread about whether the Ball is a boy or a girl. But all-in-all, its still Ball.So above is the final design of the Ball Revamped ball. No, it won’t be that big. It’s just blown up because its neat to see the detail that went into it. The design hasn’t changed much, but it got a fresh new look. The shading and colors are brighter, the look is less gradient, and it’s really looking a lot nicer. Maybe you can’t tell the difference, but I can. It’s also interesting looking at the other Balls that were in the game from Ball Revamped IV, all the way down to the prototype ball that I used to play around with in class. The original prototype ball was the only ball with yellow in it. It was filled with solid colors and had little thought put into it. After all, I was just playing around with the different ball types. The Ball Revamped ball was huge! It was the same color as the Ball game ball, except with a shadow behind it.The Ball Revamped 2 ball shrunk the ball dramatically, added better collision detection, and made the colors less muted. Also, a score and time chased the ball to give easy reference to those features. The Ball Revamped 3: Andromeda ball was nearly the same as Ball Revamped 2, just getting slight gradient fixes. The time and score where displayed instead at the beginning of the level. The Ball Revamped 3: Gemini ball was inverted in color, so that lines outlined the color regions, instead of the usual solid gradients. The Ball Revamped 4 ball was incredibly bright in the middle, and a bit smaller than Gemini and Andromeda. The ball had a color trail behind it.So as the last one, the Ball will hold true to its story and will be ready for another 100 levels.-John
