(Website Hosts: This file is not available for hosting until Friday, February 23rd. Do NOT host this file elsewhere until then).Knights of Rock. Fight your way through over 90 enemies in a matter of 70 seconds flat. Fight the evil boss, defend the world!KoR was a long-awaited ambitious project of mine. How could I make a music game more then just the rhythm? Games such as DanceDanceRevolution rely on simple animations in the background to accompany the rising arrows in the foreground, which doesn’t make for much interaction (although I love DDR, don’t get me wrong). Other flash rhythm games just seem to emulate DDR, and provide notes to hit synced to the music.I set out after KoR to see if I could change the stereotypical rhythm/beat/rock game, and make it more animated, fun, and interesting for other people to watch. I don’t know if you ever sat down and watch someone play a rhythm game, but the visuals always seem to be a bit lacking.KoR started nearly 3 weeks ago, and was finally finished a few days ago. The process went something like this. 1) Find a neat song (Link).2) Tediously listen over and over again to the song, while laying down notes on the 2,300 frame timeline.3) Animate several different poses for fighting, attacking, jumping, etc., and draw all the characters and backgrounds.4) Lay down and animate synced to the notes, the 2,300 frames of animation.Once this was all done, we have a nice short music-based game, with fighting and action. You need to press the arrows once they get to the end of the bar, and the more accurate you are, the longer you’ll live. The less accurate you are, your bar will drop, and if it gets too low, the animation will stop and you need to start again. The game has several features. *Intergrated score system, that calculates your score based on combos, accuracy, and overall performance.*High score lists to see if you did okay.*Banners and Rank System, so you can post your success/failures on your myspace, forums, livejournal, etc.*Stars flying everywhere. The game is tough, and is supposed to be. Don’t give up if you dont get it at first, just plug in some headphones, relax, and fight to the death.Hope you enjoy :) .BECOME A ROCK LEGEND
